Events

Kasino Night

This is an annual event that is the chapter’s major fund raising event that brings a Las Vegas type casino setting to the Virginia Peninsula. Examples of games that are played during this event are Craps, Roulette, Texas Hold’ em, and Black Jack. A CASHLESS SYSTEM is used for all activities. Each attendee is given $5000.00 in Kappa Kash. Kappa cash to convert into game chips which are in denominations of White = $100, Red = $500, Blue = $1000, and Black = $5000. At the end of the evening, these chips are converted into raffle tickets that go into a prize drawing for several prizes. This event is for entertainment only and at no time is real gambling allowed. The typical construct of this event is:

MENU: An excellent selection of heavy hors d’oeuvres is served.
BEVERAGES: Cash Bars located throughout the venue.
MUSIC: DJ
DANCING: 8:00 PM- 2:00 AM

RAFFLE: There will be drawings for several raffle prizes.

  • Dealers will distribute Raffle tickets at 1 per $5000 in winnings at the tables at the conclusion of the games.
  • All chips must be exchanged for raffle tickets by the designated time.
  • Players wishing to participate in the raffle for prizes will place half of the raffle tickets in the raffle drum at the designated area.
  • Raffle tickets will be drawn and prizes presented to the wining ticket at a break during the dancing.

Proceeds from this casino night event fund one of our most successful programs, the awarding of college scholarships to high school seniors. The thousands of dollars that have been awarded have enabled many of the recipients to go on to careers in medicine, science, engineering, education and other fields of endeavor. The majority of these funds are from contributions from community, business and fraternal sponsors for the Kasino Night event.

Black & White

Black & White Ball: This biennial event is held on the second Saturday of August at the conclusion of Kappa Week. It is a formal event that recognizes the Chapter accomplishments, achievements and recognizes the support from the local community. It is also the event at which scholarships are awarded to outstanding graduating High School seniors. Event consists of a social hour and cocktails sit down dinner, awards program and concluded with dancing.
